Teachers and others who work for the Charlotte school system might still get laid off, Superintendent Peter Gorman said.
The stimulus money coming to North Carolina might not come in time or might not be enough.
Principals are supposed to plan for a worst-case scenario; as many as 1,200 positions might get cut, Gorman said. That would include teachers, teachers assistants, security workers and assistant principals.
North Carolina is supposed to get $2 billion from the stimulus package, but the superintendent said he doesn’t know how much CMS specifically will get.
