A judge in Raleigh said that three kids, ages 10, 11 and 12, should go to public school, rather than learn at home from their mother.
The students are excelling academically, working above grade level. But he said it would be good for them to be exposed to different ideas and not just the ideas and beliefs that their mother was teaching them.
This all came to be after their mother filed for divorce. The kids’ father said in court that he was worried about the kids’ well-being in a homeschool situation.
The mother is part of the Sound Doctrine Church, which encourages members not to celebrate holidays or birthdays. The kids’ father called the church a cult.
The mother plans to appeal the judge’s order, so it’s not over yet.
